Finished Golden Earring - Radar Love
The cuts mimicked the beat of the music and the mirroring effect was used well.
The mirroring effect meets the audience needs because it's cut in time. It keeps the audience interested. Distortion of the bass form. Distortion of reality. Lip syncing was very accurate.

Music Video Research
This Parody of "Smells like Teen Spirit" pokes fun at Kurt Cobain's singing style and the structure of song as well as the original video. Although hilarious, it is quite educational in the fact that it points out most of the generic conventions of both the song and it's video. It also makes it very clear who the target demographic is by casting most of the "live" audience as long haired rocker types.

Effects Research
We were researching in to what effects we could use in our Smells like teen spirit video that would match the conventions of grunge in that era. We found that the sepia colour filter is used throughout grunge and slow motion/sped up motion is used throughout as well. We will try and incorporate these conventions in to our video.

Editing Golden Earring - Radar Love
We edited our 30 practice music video today and are happy with the outcome, we think it is well paced, cuts line up to the beats and we have some funky effects that match with the generic conventions of that era.

Copyright
We fired off some emails to who we thought held the copyright to Nirvana's songs but there are some complications. When Kurt Cobain died he left his wife the rights to Nirvana's songs but since then the rights seemed to have been passed from place to place and now the current Copyright holder is untraceable.

The Vixens
Just researched in to a blog by a group of students that achieved level 4....and WOW! These students have put in an enormous amount of time, energy and a bit of money too.
Their planning and research is meticulous to the point of obsession. They blog conversations between them, every item they need for shot and editing sessions.
Even though it is sometimes a bit tedious to read through irrelevant conversations, it provides a sort of narrative glue that holds the whole blog together.

Lyrics
These are the lyrics to lip sync to.
Load up on guns and bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's over-bored and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay
I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay
And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, it's hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello, how low?
Hello, hello, hello
With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial, a denial
A denial

Target Audience
When asked via Facebook questionnaire, "What genre do you listen to the most?", these are the results we collected from 27 people. If we add together Rock and Grunge as they will have a fairly similar target audience we can say that the majority of our results consist of our target audience.
Music Video Research
We decided that 'teen spirit' was the best choice for us to make a video to as a narrative is easily produced for it. The parts are playable by the musicians we have and overall it has a great pace.
As the official video to 'smells like teen spirit' is almost purely performance it leaves the opportunity for narrative wide open.

Music Video Research
So we settled on 'Smells like teen spirit' after looking through Nirvana's songs and other music around that time such as 'Crazy Train' by Ozzy Osbourne.

Shooting Golden Earring - Radar Love
We Shot our footage for the 30 second video today. We just used a room in the music block because we wanted to use a real drum kit and we couldn't take one out. Everything went smoothly and we got some good footage to use.
